Hi Micki,
Your Holy Cards are stunning!!
I need your help. I need help spreading the word about my blog, because I'm getting absolutely no view, so if you could tell others about my blog, it would be a HUGE help!

I looked at this card yesterday, but not carefully enough. Today I noticed that, next to the skull there is what appears to be a whip (scourge/flagellum). I was pretty sure what this meant, and I was able to confirm it.

According to this site, St. Aloysius, despite his innocence, "made use of the practice of flagellation" to the point of drawing blood.

The now very rarely used practice of the "discipline" (penance of flagellation) is described in the old Catholic Encyclopedia here.

Terra Hangen - Welcome. I'm so pleased you "found" me. Your comments are always welcomed here.

Josh - Good to have you up and running again.

John - Oh my goodness, the site you directed us to about St. Aloysius is just outstanding. I spent the last 20 minutes reading more about him there that I never knew. Thank you so much. I am going to change the site I recommended to the site you recommended...thank you.
