God Bless America.........July 4

"If My people, which are called by My name,
shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face,
and turn from their wicked ways;
then will I hear from heaven,
and will forgive their sin,
and will heal their land."

Micki, No matter how many times we stand up and sing God Bless America its not going to happen until we do humble ourselfs and pray and seek out Jesus as a nation like this beautiful holy card tells us to do.So we can say God bless America all day and night and it will do us no good until we repent and pray and seek God's mercy. This nation is in deep trouble and we need to put God first in our lives.
God Bless,

Absolutely! Until the people of this country do the specific things the card listed, the country will continue to slide down the tube. Remember, the 6th century BC Jews, and the 2nd century Jews didn't believe it could happen to them either, went on ignoring both Jeremiah and Jesus, and suffered the consequences.

The early Christians had it right: "Quid est imperatori cum ecclesia?"

Ed - I so agree....and you said it so beautifully. If only we would all believe this. Lord have mercy.

Irene - How true! History always seems to repeat itself because we don't listen and learn. How often must we be told?

For some reason I can't stand "God Bless America". I think I fall in with Woody Guthrie on this one.

This land is your land,
this land is my land
From California
to the New York Island
From the Redwood Forest
to the Gulf Stream waters
This land was made for you and me.

Miguel - I can't agree with you on this one. You are right that "this land was made for you and me".......but it was made by Him and I ask Him every day to bless it. And I think you would agree that those blessings surely are needed.

60% of my dislike for the song is the tune, which ssems so cheesy. The other 40% comes from the fact that this has become the patriotic song prefered by the socialist-leaning, constitution-trampling, war-mongering neo-conservatives.

The song's 'America' and 'America the Beautiful', as well as the national anthem also have prayers for our country, if people wouldn't be so lazy and actually sing all the verses.

Miguel - Yes, I agree. I just enjoy knowing that we are acknowledging our Lord, the creator of all, and all the songs you mentioned I love.
Just as those who want to take "God" off our money etc. I thought you were unhappy with calling on God to bless American.

Another option for July 4: Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati. :)
