St. Benedict..........July 11

St. Benedict was an
Italian monk
who founded
the Benedictine order about 540
(480-547)

"Listen and attend with the ear of your heart."

Read about St. Benedict

The Latin words on the book held by the saint mean, "Holy Rule" -- a reference to the series of regulations written by St. Benedict to guide his monks in their shared life of work and prayer. The Benedictine motto is, "Ora et Labora" (Pray and Work).

Our dear late son Geraint was baptised in a church dedicated to St Benedict, the altar contained stones from Monte Casino, St benedicts birthplace and other famous benedictine houses.

John - What wonderful words. I'll add all of what you wrote here to the front of the card. A big thanks to you.

diddleymaz - Oh, how sad to read of your loss....my heart aches for you. I pray there is comfort in knowing you have a soul in heaven praying for you. and I'm sure St. Benedict is also one of your patrons.

John K. - Such simple truthful words....."a very holy man."
