Priest with Paten

"Accept, holy Father..."

Priest with Host

"I will offer You a sacrifice of thanksgiving...."

Modern translation, from Hebrew.

Word "Host" comes from Latin "hostia," which means "sacrificial Victim (Jesus)
There is no "host" before the consecration; there is only "altar bread." Through the consecration, the bread becomes a Host (now capitalized).

Thanks go to John for translation and information above.

Always good to learn something new.

Mary our Mother

We have in heaven the heart of a mother,
The Virgin, our Mother,
who at the foot of the Cross
suffered as much as possible
for a human creature,
understands our troubles and consoles us.

St. Agnes Feast Day

This is a virgin's birthday;
let us follow the example of her chastity.
It is a martyr's birthday;
let us offer sacrifices;
it is the birthday of holy Agnes:
let men be filled with wonder,
little ones with hope,
married women with awe,
and the unmarried with emulation.

Fears, Hopes and Dreams

Consult not your fears but your hopes and your dreams.
Think not about your frustrations,
but about your unfulfilled potential.

Concern yourself not with what you tried and failed in,
but with what it is still possible for you to do.
Come to Jesus through Mary with the Rosary.

Pelican, Symbol for Christ

The pelican is an ancient symbol for Christ. The pelican has been known to tear into it's own flesh to use as food for it's young. Shedding blood for it's own.
Christ did that also.

Whenever I pass a church,
I always make a visit.
So when I die,
The Lord my God,
Won't have to say
"Who is it?"

Pray only on days that end with a "Y."
