St. Thomas Aquinas Feast Day
Patron of Schools. Greatest writing work..."SUMMA THEOLOGICA".
Pray the Lord gives us graces to understand what St. Thomas taught and to imitate what he lived.
Known as the “Angelic Doctor,” he was declared Doctor of the Church by Pope Saint Pius V; and by Pope Leo XIII in 1880 was declared Patron of Catholic Schools. Pope Pius XI declared him Doctor of the Most Holy Eucharist. He is Patron of the Confraternity of the Angelic Warfare.

Priest with Host
"I will offer You a sacrifice of thanksgiving...."
Modern translation, from Hebrew.
Word "Host" comes from Latin "hostia," which means "sacrificial Victim (Jesus)
There is no "host" before the consecration; there is only "altar bread." Through the consecration, the bread becomes a Host (now capitalized).
Thanks go to John for translation and information above.
Always good to learn something new.

St. Agnes Feast Day
This is a virgin's birthday;
let us follow the example of her chastity.
It is a martyr's birthday;
let us offer sacrifices;
it is the birthday of holy Agnes:
let men be filled with wonder,
little ones with hope,
married women with awe,
and the unmarried with emulation.
From SAINT OF THE DAY, p. 19

Pelican, Symbol for Christ
The pelican is an ancient symbol for Christ. The pelican has been known to tear into it's own flesh to use as food for it's young. Shedding blood for it's own.
Christ did that also.

Church Visit
Whenever I pass a church,
I always make a visit.
So when I die,
The Lord my God,
Won't have to say
"Who is it?"
Pray only on days that end with a "Y."
