SELF-DENIAL, Saturday of the Fourth Week of Lent

Still time for Lenten sacrifices.

"Believe me, the writing of pious books,
the composing of the most sublime
poetry;
all that does not equal
the smallest act of self-denial."

St. Therese of Lisieux

That is absolutely right! This is a wonderful reminder for me. Thank you dear Micki!

I know you won't post any awards, but I got your name on my post, my way of showing appreciation for what you do! :-)

Dear d.s.,
Thanks for your kind words to me yesterday!

Friends,
I have seen this rendition of the Holy Face (Veronica's veil) many times, but never with the red highlights, which make such a difference.

The German words mean this ...
"O Lord ... let your face shine upon us, that we may be saved."

The words come from verse 8 of Psalm 80. (The card, using the alternate psalm-numbering system, refers to "Ps. 79,8" in the lower right corner.)

John is right Micki, the red highlights do make such a difference. A lovely card, and a lovely quotation too. Thank You Micki,
Best Regards, Lynneda

Super post from St. Therese of Lisieux! This dovetails nicely with what I was just reading in Imitation of Christ by T. Kempis. Thanks for this. :)

Easter - Thank you for your "cross." I loved the way you used many names. Very original.

John - I still don't understand some of those psalm numbers.

Lynneda - Always so sweet to say such encouraging things.

Alexandra - Good for you for reading Kempis. Not always easy to put into practice. Good to remember that he was not writing for the general public. At least that's what someone told me. :-)

Jackie - And we all need these reminders, right?
