"Jesus Lord, kind Pelican,
Cleanse my filth with Thy blood,
One drop of which can save
The whole world from all its sin,"

- St. Thomas Aquinas

In the UK many Pubs have very old names that are actuallyof religeous origin and I know of one at Kenfig, The Pelican, sometimes known as The Pelican in her Piety.

A very beautiful image and text by St. Thomas Aquinas! The Pelican is on the coat of arms of my Parish Church here in San Antonio. The symbol of the Pelican dates back to the early Christians and the Eucharist. Hope you are well and enjoying the fall colors in Indiana. We are having cooler weather here finally in Texas! John K.

Thanks for the Pelican explanation. I've heard before about it being used to represent Christ but could not remember the symbolism.

Another great quote and card! Thanks, Micki.

God bless,
Stephanie

Thanks for sharing about the pelican on the coat of arms at your church JOHN K. Our weather here IS beautiful but the leaves are pretty much down now. Texas had a HOT summer so I'm sure you are welcoming cooler temps.

So glad you enjoyed learning about the pelican STEPHANIE. I remember the first time I was made aware of the symbol and its explanation. It's always fun to learn new things.
