PRAY FOR THE MISSIONS
"Pray for the many spiritual and material needs of your families,
your communities,
the whole Church,
and all of humanity.
Indeed, prayer is the first and greatest work of charity that we must do for our
brothers and sisters."
Pope John Paul II

Friends,
The French words on this card begin with "Bx. Chanel". The "Bx." is an abbreviation for "Bienheureux," which means "Blessed." The "Chanel" is a reference to the French Marist missionary priest -- a "Blessed" when this card was printed, but since canonized (1954) -- St. Peter Chanel. He was martyred at the age of 37 on the south Pacific island of Futuna in 1841. His day of memorial is April 28.
The words on the card mean, "Blessed Chanel, pray for the missions of Oceania."

John - Thank you for this added information. I'm not familiar with St. Chanel so this was a bonus for me.
