"Let nothing disturb you.
Let nothing frighten you.
All things are passing.
God alone does not change.
Patience achieves everything.
Whoever has God lacks nothing.
God alone suffices."

IMAGO SACRA MILLE GRATIARUM VALET. ("A holy picture is worth a thousand graces")................... This blog is a means to show some of my holy card collection along with some interesting thoughts and inspirations. "....artists have the privilege in the Church and throughout history, to open up so that people can see the mystery of God. The artist speaks, not just literally, but symbolically. Visual images, if well done, can move us. That's a ministry." Quote from Brother Michael Moran, C.P

Such a wonderful picture,an image of love and prayer.
The verses of Saint Theresa in the original Spanish:
Nada te turbe,
nada te espante,
todo se pasa;
Dios no se muda,
la paciencia todo lo alcanza,
quien a Dios tiene
nada le falta
sólo Dios basta.
Great woman and great poetess.
What sweetness this card portrays. The quote from St. Teresa is a treasure...I have had a copy of that in my prayerbook since I was a young girl and it is always consoling, especially when life becomes very difficult.

I love this beautiful image. My mom collected Hummels, so they always feel very much like childhood and home to me.
What a beautiful and inspirational picture, love and pray.

Welcome back, Micki! John
Thank you Micki for today's posting, it is absolutely sweet, and the quote by St. Theresa de Avila is inspiring and true! I have always loved the Hummel images, Sr. really captured the innocence of a childlike faith in her works. They are timeless reminders of a much simpler time a faith. Let us learn to trust in Our Dear Lord more and rely on ourselves less. For all things are passing and the only thing that really matters is dying to self and conforming our lives to resemble Jesus. By doing this we will not be dissappointed for we will behold everything we have longed for. Thank you Micki for sharing this "sweet" portrayl of Holiness! John K.
Diddleymaz - Don't you just love the bird also? I do.
Meldelen - How nice to have the Spanish words. After two years of Spanish I should be able to read it but I can't :-(
Diane S. - So true. I also am drawn to prayers of consolation.
We are so blessed to have our faith. Thank you Jesus.
Ginny - I'm like your mom...I don't have lots but what I have I enjoy for their sweetness.
