Simon of Cyrene - Forced to Help Jesus Carry the Cross
"Why me?" asks Simon.
When we are asked to carry a burden, we too say,
"Why me?"
The grace of our merciful Savior touched the soul of Simon, so that he became afterwards His faithful disciple. There is the grace of salvation, peace and sanctification for our soul when we carry our cross with Jesus.

Thank you, Micki, for this beautiful card.
I have always liked pictures of St. Simon of Cyrene helping Jesus (pictures that cause me to be reminded of my own duty to help Him)-- but all the pictures, until today, have had a certain sameness.
You have given me a new favorite depiction of this great event. Never before have I seen St. Simon carrying the cross with his left hand while using his right hand to clasp the right Hand of Jesus.
St. Simon not only carries our sins on the cross, but also draws forward his weakened Savior. Jesus reaches out with His left hand too, getting additional support from the stong forearm of Simon, at whose face He looks with love. Or was it Jesus who thus was giving Simon supernatural support?
Lord Jesus crucified, have mercy on us!
John
Sweet Micki,
Thank you for sending me angel support yesterday. Again, beautiful picture. I like the thought that John brought up about Jesus giving Simon the strength.
God bless you Sweet Micki sending my guardian angel to give you a big hug.
Love,

Amen, Sister! All praise and Glory to God! I agree!
Wow, Can you even imagine being Simon. What an experience that would have been!!!!
Blessings to all!

John - I'm so happy to hear your words about St. Simon of Cyrene and how you explained the picture. You truly look at these cards with your heart. God bless you.
Prayerflowers - I'm praying that you also get a helper to help you carry your cross. Hugs,
Ally - I'm not sure I would have been able to help....I only pray I wouldn't have ran away. Lord give me strength to be faithful.
