Do Not Fear the Future, Saturday of the First Week of Lent

"Do not fear God
for perfect love casts out fear.
God is biased in your favor.
God is more lenient than you because He is perfectly good and,
therefore, loves you more.
Be bold enough then,
to believe that God is on your side,
even when you forget to be on His."

Thank You Micki.
I needed to hear this today. It came at just the right time.

I needed this too, Micki, a perfectly wonderful message to accompany a perfectly wonderful card. That lifted the chin(s) off the floor. Thank you.
Best Regards, Lynneda

Friends,
I came to the blog too early on Saturday to see this (until now).

The French words mean the following:

"The Dream of the Holy Child Jesus. 'He was obedient unto death ... even death on the cross.'"
[The quotation is from Philippians 2:8.]

I like the way the artist shows that Our Lady has fallen asleep too, as her hand has slipped away from her Baby and lies limply at her side.

Easter - Silence is a perfect gift. I'll try to join you.

d.s. - And each day "you" are a gift to me. Thank you for your loyal following.

Ed - I'm holding you up in prayer Ed. Don't know why but just feel called to do so.

Lynneda - I'm holding you up also Lynneda. That's what we can do for each other.

Marie - A great reminder. Good words to hear!

John - This time the "early bird" didn't get the worm huh? :-)
I loved your pointing out how Mary's hand had slipped. Yes, she too sleeps in Christ.

Jo Marie - I'm so happy to hear how these images can help with your school "work." :-)

Ok, Micki, thank you!:-) I am going to break my silence now :-).

I came back looking for John's interpretation. Thank you, John.

I had this image, this holy card in my mind and contemplated it and asked: "Was it possible that Mary dreamed it, had the vision of Jesus on the cross while she was holding the Baby Jesus?" So fascinating!

BTW John, Jesus being obedient unto death is another one of my favorite verses. This was the main topic of a talk a gave once. I was amazed at how many people were so open to the scriptures I used, especially this one. It is soooo important for us Catholics to own God's scriptures, to share them, to speak them as if we live and breathe in/with them.

Ok, I got carried away now...:-) Love to all! :-)

This is meaningful to me. Thank you for gifting us with your wonderful collection of Holy cards and the inspirational messages you choose to post with them.

I couldn't possibly pick a favorite, they're all such a treasure.

Easter - Interesting thought! Can you imagine the suffering in knowing what lies ahead? We forget that Jesus knew what was coming. Would we want to know our future?

Maryellen - I'm like you...I don't know if I could pick out my favorite either. I'm glad we don't have to.
