Veronica's Veil - Face of Jesus, Thursday of the First Week of Lent

O Jesus, give me today and all the days of my life the memory of Your Holy Passion. Make me share in Your wounds, Your thorns, Your Cross.

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY to all the dear hearts who come to post or read these comments. I didn't have a sweet "Valentine" card to post so stayed with the Lenten reflection. I pray everyone has someone special to say "I Love You" to today. It's so good to know that HE loves us all so much on ALL days, not just Valentines Day. (insert big hug here to you all)

Thanks for the hug, Micki, which I reciprocate.

The Latin words around the frame of this card are: "Respice in Faciem Christi Tui, Domine (Ps. 83)".

They are taken from verse 9 of what most Bible editions count as Psalm 84. The words mean: "O Lord (God), look upon the Face of your anointed One." [Some people mistakenly think that "Christ" was Jesus's surname, instead of the title that it is. Here is where it comes from: Hebrew "Mashiach/Messiah" = Greek "Christos" = Latin "Christus" = English "anointed one" (the Christ).]

The Latin words under the picture of Jesus are: "Faciam Tuam, Domine, Requiram." They mean: "Your Face, o Lord, I shall seek."

Thankyou, John, for the beautiful explanation. I always look forward to your writing.
Happy Valentine's Day to Micki and all--let us gaze on the Holy Face of Our Beloved Jesus! He is our first Love, the Heart of our Hearts.

John - How interesting. Who would think "Christ" was Jesus' surname. Once again...great teaching John.

D.S. - Hearts of love going your way.

The lovely face of Jesus Christ! Yes! We shall not truly appreciate the Risen Christ if we do not fully appreciate the Suffering Christ.

Dear family of God, how I give thanks to God for you!

Micki, sweet one, I just knew you couldn't "get away" from us :-), for we have become your family now.:-) Isn't that wonderful?!!!
