IMAGO SACRA MILLE GRATIARUM VALET. ("A holy picture is worth a thousand graces")................... This blog is a means to show some of my holy card collection along with some interesting thoughts and inspirations. "....artists have the privilege in the Church and throughout history, to open up so that people can see the mystery of God. The artist speaks, not just literally, but symbolically. Visual images, if well done, can move us. That's a ministry." Quote from Brother Michael Moran, C.P

They are heavenly, pure, and splendid

"You never think of Mary
without Mary thinking of God
on your behalf.
Neither do you ever praise and honor God
without Mary praising and honoring God

*Feast of The Ascension of the Lord..............May 24
Jesus Christ lifted up His hands and blessed His disciples. While He blessed them, He parted from them, and He was lifted up to Heaven; and soon, a cloud took Him out of their sight.
The disciples worshipped the ascended Lord and for a long time continued to stand and gaze into Heaven after Him. Then, two angels in white robes appeared before them and said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into Heaven? This Jesus, Who was taken up from you into Heaven, will come to earth in the same way (that is, in the flesh) as you saw Him go into heaven."
......He will come again to earth in a visible form to judge the living and the dead who will then rise from the dead. After this, the new life will begin, the life of the next age, another, eternal life, which for true believers and pious people will be completely blessed but for disbelievers and sinners will be a time of great torment.

I will take up the chalice of salvation and will call upon the name of the Lord."

*In Paradisum...............May 21
May the martyrs come to greet you on the way.
May they lead you home to the holy city,
to the new and eternal Jerusalem.
In Paradisum [Latin: "Into Paradise"] The title comes from the first words of the Latin text. This hymn is sung during the funeral liturgy of the Roman Catholic Church, usually as the body is taken from the Church for burial. The reference to Lazarus calls to mind the story in the Gospel of Jesus raising his friend from the dead after being moved to tears by the grief of Mary and Martha, the sisters of Lazarus.

*Our Lady of Good Remedy..........May 4
"800 years ago thousands of Christians were captured and sold into slavery by Muslim hordes. No one knew how to stop them or how to save the Christians.
In 1198 St. John of Matha founded the Trinitarians to go to the slave markets, buy the Christian slaves and set them free. To carry out this plan, the Trinitarians needed large amounts of money. So, they placed their fund-raising efforts under the patronage of Mary.
They were so successful at that, over the centuries, the Trinitarians were able to free thousands and thousands of people and to return them safely home. In gratitude for her miraculous assistance,
St. John of Matha honored Mary with the title of "Our Lady of Good Remedy." Devotion to Mary under this ancient title is widely known in Europe and Latin America, and the Church celebrates her feast day on October 8th.
Our Lady of Good Remedy is often depicted as the Virgin Mary handing a bag of money to St. John of Matha. When in need - for whatever reason, but especially where you have had difficulty obtaining help - invoke the aid of Our Lady of Good Remedy, and you will surely experience the power of her intercession."
"She will be our help in these times when we are again threatened by radical Islamic terrorists intent on slaughtering Christians.
She will be our help as we face an economic disaster."

*You Are Good ..."Bonus Es Tu"..........May 3
For every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills. I know every bird in the mountains, and the creatures of the field are mine. Praise the lord from the earth you great sea creatures…wild animals and cattle, small creatures and flying birds…let them praise the name of the Lord for His name alone is exalted; His splendor is above the earth and the heavens. Praise the Lord!
"Bonus es tu" may be a Latin translation of Psalm 199:68, which starts, "You are good/Thou art good."
