Happy Mother's Day to all the Mother's out there in blogdom.
When we who are devoted to Mary
call her Mother,
we are not using empty words
or just speaking at random.
She is our Mother - not by the flesh,
of course, but spiritually;
the Mother of our souls,
St. Alphonsus Liguori
of our salvation."
St. Alphonsus Liguori
What a tender portrayal of Jesus and Mary! Thankyou for sharing this treasure, Micki!

Happy Mother's Day to our Mother! And to you, Micki! :-)
ReplyDeleteAmen. Happy Mother's Day. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day Micki!
ReplyDeleteHmmmm. Growing up, I always lamented the fact that I was not the "flesh and blood" daughter of the man I considered my Dad. After his death, this feeling of inadequacy became more pronounced. Then God moved me to see that the only flesh to truly matter, is Christ's immortal flesh which both he and I have and are partaking of. Through Christ I am truly the "flesh and blood" daughter of my Dad. Now I know somehow, we will be resurrected with the bodies we currently have. But maybe, if I can become Dad's "flesh and blood" via Christ, even granting that I will be raise in my own body, Maybe, somehow mysteriously, we all are becoming (through the Eucharist) and will become in the consumation of all things, Mary's "flesh and blood" children. It is no longer I who live but Christ lives in me---and Christ is the physical Son of Mary. Tis something that just now occurred to me----I may be way out of line.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely ADORE this image of Mary and Jesus.
ReplyDeleteThank you, thank you, thank you!
Diane - I thought the same thing. "A tender portrayal of Jesus and Mary." Hope you were surrounded with all your children today...or at least as many as possible.
ReplyDeleteEaster - I'm sure you were blessed with a wonderful family day also. Your children are your flowers.
Alexandra - Back at you too. With added blessings for a good week.
Esther - Thank you....you too. It's so nice to put a "face" with your name.
Cheryl - Thank you for your deep and meaningful comment. I think the Holy Spirit was certainly inspiring you with these thoughts. Happy Mothers Day from all your mothers...spiritual and human.
Ginny - Thank you for your compliment....I'll pass it along to the artist :-)))
Micki, I love this image...do you sell copies? I would love to get it. Thank you.

Julia - Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment. I'm sorry to say that I don't sell any of these cards and because they are pretty old I doubt they are for sale anywhere. You might watch some of the auction sites like ebay. Good luck.
