*Religious Nuns..........December 1

"No one has a right to sit down and feel hopeless.
There's too much work to do."

Dorothy Day

Let us thank in prayerful remembrance, all that the
religious sisters have given to us in their teaching, nursing, and holy prayer filled lives.

"T'was at the foot of the cross she grew up."

The religious sisters are truly my heroes. God alone knows how much their silent prayers have done for us.

Friends,

The girls/women pictured are dressed differently. However, the impression that I get from the French words on the card is that they are all members of the same "family" of orders (or congregations) of nuns (or religious sisters). I'm not sure if the words are speaking of the Franciscan family (all of whom follow in the spirit of Sts. Francis and Clare of Assisi).

Here is one way in which the words can be translated:
"It is at the foot of the Cross that it was founded. It is at the foot of the Cross that it grew."

Inspiring.

But let us remember that the pithy words of Dorothy Day apply not merely to nuns -- but to all of us.

Mister Corduroy - Thanks for your translation.

Clare Mariei-Therese Duroc - So happy to join you in my admiration for their "silent prayers". We are blessed I'm sure.

John - Hard to believe they are all of the same order. I don't think so but what do I know. I don't understand the tanslation either...think it best to just enjoy the picture with thoughts of "the good sisters."

Irene - So true.

I think they are different orders. I think it means that the orders were founded at the foot of the cross and they grew at the foot of the cross.

However, today it seems there are only a few orders that are still growing. We should probably be praying every day for vocations.

Thanks for the nice images and thought-provoking messages.
