St. Cesario..........August 26

I'm sure this is an unknown saint to many of you.
He is special to our family and I therefore had to
put the card on the blog. I ask you all to join me
in asking St. Cesario to pray for all of us.
Some Saint Books say his last name is spelled
Caesarius and his feast day is said to be August 26th.
Other books say it is spelled the way it is on this holy
card with a feast day of August 27. I'm sure our
prayers will be answered on either day.

Hi, Micki.

I have known of your special saint for almost twenty years -- since I began to read the excerpts of his sermons that are printed in the "Office of Readings" in the "Liturgy of the Hours" (Divine Office).

He was a bishop in 6th Century France, where he may have gone by the Latin version of his name (Caesarius), although he may have used the Italian version (Cesario) when visiting Rome, etc..

If you would like to read some of what he wrote, I found a couple of texts on the Internet:
1. Scroll down a good bit after going to this page.
2. No need to scroll down much on this page.

Micki, before reading your little text, I was going to ask you if this saint's feast day had special meaning to your family. Thanks for answering that :-)

Tracy - Big hug for your comment. Must keep it in the family huh?

John - I can't believe you are familiar with him let alone read his writings. Thank you so much for passing along further information, unknown to me. You just always amaze me. Thanks again dear friend.

Esther - Aren't you funny? And don't you have a darn good memory.

I can only imagine why this is so important to you, dear Micki :-). How precious! I cannot tell you how happy I am to see his holy card here. No wonder I thought of "Patroness of Holy Cards" so appropriate... :-)

John, thanks for the links!

Prayers for you and your family, dear Micki!

Easter - How fun, I think we are both posting at the same time (check the times below)

Yes, you too know me very well. I still smile when I think of how cute your holy card would be. I hope we could do a before and after...you know, one where you are like 70 years later....that means I hope you have long life :-)

I am not religious at all, but I am familiar with Saint Cesario. I live in a small, heavily Italian town in NJ and every year there is a celebration in his honor. Even though I am not religious, I appreciate St. Cesario, because this day is a great time of year and it seems to mean so much to so many people that for that one day of the year, i'll call myself a Christian.

I can't begin to tell you (even at this late date after posting this holy card) how exciting it was to read your anonymous comment. Why does this excite me? Because my last name is Cesario and I've never known anyone who was the least bit familiar with St. Cesario. Thanks for writing...hope you check back to read this. Thanks.

St Cesario's feast was last night. A great time like every year. Better than last year's even. I didn't leave the original anon comment but I'm surprised there isn't more about this awesome event or the saint himself on the net.

'A TIP FOR THE SAINT!!!'

hahaha if you've ever been to one you know what i'm talking about (;

Hi All,
I'm so surprised that I still receive comments several years after this original card was posted. What joy..., yes, I'm still around and have to say "thanks" to the last commenter who reminded me of the festivities in NJ for my name saint patron. Hope all is well with everyone. Keep on celebrating Jersey folks.
