Let us ask Mary to
hold us as we go through Lent.
HE died for me
I live for HIM.

IMAGO SACRA MILLE GRATIARUM VALET. ("A holy picture is worth a thousand graces")................... This blog is a means to show some of my holy card collection along with some interesting thoughts and inspirations. "....artists have the privilege in the Church and throughout history, to open up so that people can see the mystery of God. The artist speaks, not just literally, but symbolically. Visual images, if well done, can move us. That's a ministry." Quote from Brother Michael Moran, C.P

Friends,
The Latin words in Our Lady's halo say, "Queen of Martyrs." The words at the bottom of the card are a Latin translation of part of verse 12 of chapter 1 of Lamentations. The words mean:
"... Oh, all of you who pass by, look and see if there is any sorrow like my sorrow ...".
John
Beautiful post..as ever..
I love The Pietas, Micki (excuse the spelling!) in both art and sculpture, even though it breaks my heart. This is a glorious card, full of intricate detail and rich colours. Thank You.
Best Regards, Lynneda
This card is beautiful already but with the multiple borders, it is absolutely stunning. I think these images are from murals. Wouldn't it be wonderful to actually see the murals?
Thanks again.
Kay
You have just been memed.
Not so fast Miki - nothing to preclude you from responding in the combox.
Sometimes we all have to suffer.
John - There certainly was no sorrow like her sorrow.
Jackie - Thanks for alwalys stopping by and leaving a word or two.
Lynneda - I'm the one who had the spelling mistake...thanks to a good friend who pointed it out...it's now fixed :-)
Kay - Yes, let's get a group together and go see those murals. Fabulous.
A Simple Sinner - (I was going to just write the first letters of your name, then thought better of it :-)
OK...so I answered on your comments. Thanks for the invite to do that.
Well, we BOTH got it wrong, Micki! :)

I love this picture. I am quite surprised you posted this one because we did Stations of the Cross and this was the one I found poignant. I wonder why?!
I read your answers to the meme. Oh, you are cute and funny, Micki!
Easter - I'm late in replying to your comment. Thank you for all your sweet and oh so comforting words. Your children are so blessed to have you for a mother and a model. Continued joy and health now that everyone is over their illness.
