*St. Cecilia..........November 22

"Like any good Christian,
Cecilia sang in her heart, and sometimes with her voice. She has become a symbol of the Church's conviction that good music is an integral part of the liturgy,
of greater value to the Church than any other art. "

Read about St. Cecilia

This particular series of holy cards, called "Cielo", features an art form where only the main character is in color. The background behind the main person is all in black and white.

Beautiful, St. Cecilia! Makes me miss playing the organ...

The odd thing is the organ was not introduced into liturgy until around the year 1000. Pipe organs did not exist at the time of St. Cecelia but they were rather water organs.

Adriene - Thank you. Why don't you get back to your musical talents? I played piano and organ but always prefered the piano because as a youngster, you could pound out marches and ragtime on the piano but not on an organ. Silly huh?

Sanctus Belle - Great piece of information. I didn't even consider that timing. I guess the original St. Cecilia usually had the hand-held harp (or whatever that was??).
