I know this is not a holy card, but it is a wondrous blessing to be shared.Absolutely a spiritual occasion when a pileated woodpecker came to visit us the other day. HUGE bird. Approximately 15 inches long with a 36" wing span...and he was inches away from my window
eating suet. Stayed there for 15 minutes. Rarely seen in our area yet he blessed us with a visit and we will give thanks to God for this sight.

ReplyDeleteEd - I'm glad there is someone else who thinks he is just beautiful. One more piece of information about this bird. He was the model used for (are you old enough to remember?) Woody Woodpecker....

ReplyDeleteTracy - It wasn't a "bird feeder" it was a hanging suet feeder inside a wire container, so he hung there pecking at the suet.
ReplyDeleteEsther - it could be a painting...I found it on the internet to give you all a look at what he looked like. We got a picture but it's not as fantastic as these were.
They are wonderful I think they will be in heaven along with all the wonderous creatures surrounding God , Saints and Souls :)

ReplyDeleteHe must have been beautiful. Earlier this fall we saw a hummingbird in our backyard. I have never seen a hummingbird in my life. Not sure where he came from, I have no idea if they can survive here since I've never seen one before and the Chicago fall and winter can be so cold. But he was just so beautiful. I hope he went someplace safe.

ReplyDeleteCatholicandgop - I'm in Indiana and we have hummers all summer...they arrive in April/May and stay until September/October. I'm sure your "tottleing town" hummer will be fine...they get themwselves back to warmer areas with no trouble.
Good to hear. I've never seen one in my life. I did read about a rare one that they found in Wisconsin and captured because it couldn't survive there.
