Light of the World..........January 30

"I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
John 8:12

This picture is entitled "Light of the World". It was painted by C. Bosseron Chambers.

I believe the child who modeled for it was the son of a caretaker at a church in Chicago where the artist was visiting.

this is the picture that hung on my wall as a child growing up. I'm still hoping my mother will find it among her saved treasures so I can have it for my daughter's room, but will buy one if she can't locate it. thanks again for helping me identify the name of it Micki,

Gardenia - I'm sure your daughter will love having this picture. Especially because you also had it as a child. Hope your mom finds your original. If not, there are always several for sale on ebay.

A friend of mine mentioned 2012 last night to me and it's the first I heard about it so I jumped on here out of curiosity. I think it's kind of sick and sounds like a bunch of skeptical jargon.
I choose to live every day like it is the last because let's be real, WHO THE HELL KNOWS what is going to happen or when it's your time to go on. The past is history, the future is a mystery and now is a gift, thats why it's called the present. It's not healthy to sit around and trip out about when you will die. Stop wasting your time you have now.

Anonymous - Your words have nothing to do with this post. I'm sorry you post anonymously, almost like you can't stand behind your words. You quote from a song by Daniel O'Donnell who didn't try to claim those words as his own, crediting it as a quote......"Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift, that's why they call it the present."

I got to meet the grandaughter of the little boy who posed for this Light of the World painting. She said her grandfather was the model for several of C. Bosseron Chambers' works.

ST - How proud she must be to see these pictures of young Jesus and know that is her grandfather. I love all the holy cards base on Chambers' art.
Thanks for sharing.
