The Reason For Adversities

"See to it that you're not suddenly saddened

by the adversities of this world,

for you don't know the good they bring,

being ordained in the judgments of God

for the everlasting joy of the elect."

St. John of the Cross

I believe that the French words mean this:

"Give, for charity (love) covers a multitude of sins [based on 1 Peter 4]. Give, for your brothers will use towards you the measure that you have used toward them [based on Luke 6]."

Hi Micki. What a wonderfully heartening card to look at; but what a difficult message to remember to live with when the hard times hit! I like John's translation - reminding us to give and do as we would be done by, if only because one day we'll reap what we sow.

Best Regards, Lynneda

Micki,
What beautiful words to go with this exquisite card! So, so true!

Love covers a multitude of sins! Yes, that is one of my favorites! I thought I'd share this one too:

"I tell you most solemnly,
whoever listens to my words,
and believes in the one who sent me, has everlasting life; without being brought to judgement he has passed from life to death.
(John 5:24)

Loving God is obedience to the first greatest commandment instituted by Christ: Love God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength. Loving others is obedience to the second: Love your neighbors as yourelf. That is why LOVING is so important! It is the core of the Gospel. It covers a multitude of sins! Amen!!!

Thanks to John! Lynneda, I mentioned your name twice before when you were on vacation. I'm not sure if I had said this, but I am happy you are back!

Love,
Easter:-0

Some wonderful words and comments here to accompany yet another inspirational card.
Ever since I asked Jesus to take my wheel in my life's adversities and to steer me along my RCIA journey, He has never failed to deliver - what incredible love He has for all of us.

Thank you all for your time in leaving comments. I spend lots of time reading and trying to respond myself. I am going to take a break from reading and leaving comments....I think you can continue your friendly comments over on Kays blog of cards. She is doing a wonderful job and I'm sure she will enjoy your comments there. I will continue my posting of cards and I hope to catch up on some other things in my life. I will definitely miss "meeting" you here and hope to leave occasional comments on your pages. Please continue looking and maybe being inspired for more prayer and thanksgiving to our wonderful Lord and Savior.
