The Gift of Children................July 29

"We should be ever mindful of all the benefits we have received from God during life. Happy shall we be if we strive to thank God for them."

St. Bernard

Heavenly Father, thank You for the children of the world. Keep them always in Your loving arms.

  2. Anne - Thank you. I've been collecting since growing up in Milwaukee where the good nuns would pass out holy cards for good behavior, I didn't get very many!
Continued over the years and then eBay was a source for so many of the really old ones. The prices there have gone sky-high now so I'm glad I have enough to share.

  5. Thank you Micki for sharing this wonderful holy card of Jesus and the children. I personally love the artist who paints these lovely pictures. I know his work is especially popular among our Protestant brothers and sisters. The text with today's card is equally moving. I have to agree with you about EBAY, some of the sellers price the cards as if they were bars of gold from Ft. Knox. Of course, to me and many others our collection of holy cards are priceless gems. Friends have asked me in the past which is your favorite and that is a hard question to answer as they are all uniquely "special."

I have often in prayer like to imagine myself in a scene such as the one posted today. How wonderful that meeting must have been for these dears souls. Thankfully we can go before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament or to Eucharistic Adoration and spend time before the King of Kings giving Him our hearts and LOVE!! That He so patienly longs and waits for. I always tell Jesus how sorry I am for those who don't avail themselves to this "special time and gift."

Micki I hope you and all of your visitor are having a day that is filled with the Joy of the Lord!! John K.

  6. Thankyou, John, for your wonderful thoughts about holy cards. I have been collecting them also since I was a little girl....each one can be such a point of meditation. If one is not feeling well and can't even read some prayers, just gazing at the holy card is a prayer in itself.
Thankyou for sharing your beautiful collection with us each day, Micki!
