IMAGO SACRA MILLE GRATIARUM VALET. ("A holy picture is worth a thousand graces")................... This blog is a means to show some of my holy card collection along with some interesting thoughts and inspirations. "....artists have the privilege in the Church and throughout history, to open up so that people can see the mystery of God. The artist speaks, not just literally, but symbolically. Visual images, if well done, can move us. That's a ministry." Quote from Brother Michael Moran, C.P

Birth of John the Baptist............June 24
BIRTH OF JOHN THE BAPTIST
Amen, I say to you,
among those born of women
there has been none greater than John the Baptist; yet the least in the kingdom of heaven
This morning I went to the Drudge website to see what was happening in the world....North Korea says they want to wipe us out! I want to share a quote from a modern day "voice crying in the wilderness" of a Hitler prison camp--Father Alfred Delp (1907-1945)...he wrote this from prison and I find the words consoling in light of where our world seems to be heading----"The fate of mankind, my own fate, the verdict awaiting me, can all be summed up in the sentence 'surrender thyself to God and thou shalt find thyself again.' Others have you in their power now; they torture and frighten you, hound you from pillar to post. But the inner law of freedom sings that no death can kill us; life is eternal."
Micki, I just love John the Baptist. Our Lady's first appearence in Medjugorje was on the feast day of John the Baptist, June 24, 1981. She is today the voice who is crying in the dessert. pray, pray, pray
Micki, Bless you for your faithfullness to this wonderful Aposotlate you so kindly and tirelessy provide for all of your visitors who walk away with tidbits of inspiration and beauty. I love the quote Diane S. left with her comments, the message contained there is so deep yet TRUE! They really touched my spirit in a real and meaningful way. Thank you Diane S and you Micki! May Jesus and Our Lady keep you and yours near their loving hearts!! John K.
Diane - Oh what a wonderful quote to share with us. I will have to look into this priest. Thank you so much for bringing it to us.
Ed - Thank you also for this information. She truly is the voice crying in the dessert. As you say, "let us pray."
John - Your words bring great encouragement. I'm so glad you let Diane hear your thoughts on her wonderful message. I think we all try our best to be little missionaries of the good news. Thank you for all your help. So many appreciate your translations and comments.
