IMAGO SACRA MILLE GRATIARUM VALET. ("A holy picture is worth a thousand graces")................... This blog is a means to show some of my holy card collection along with some interesting thoughts and inspirations. "....artists have the privilege in the Church and throughout history, to open up so that people can see the mystery of God. The artist speaks, not just literally, but symbolically. Visual images, if well done, can move us. That's a ministry." Quote from Brother Michael Moran, C.P
Dear Micki--When I saw this holy card my heart just jumped--I have truly never seen such a treasure of a portrayal of Jesus and His Mother so beautifully and delightfully portrayed---oh, thankyou, so much for sharing such a treasure. Just think, He did laugh and coo and smile so irrisistably as all babies do!
Ditto to Diane's comment! This one is a true gem. I have often wondered what conversations of the everyday type were like between God and the Mother of God. Did they talk on and on about the spiritual life, the truths of God? Can you imagine living with and raising God incarnate? I'd start with "Ok, just how old is the earth? Why did did you create dinosaurs? Why do we have to eat three times a day and sleep so much every night? The stars are beautiful, but you didn't just create them for us to look at right? I mean...they must serve some other purpose?" I know there are rather frivolous things, but the deeper stuff would be talked about too! :)
Diane - I bet you enlarged the picture to see that adorable smiling face of Jesus. Thanks for always checking each days cards.
Sanctus Belle - You made me smile to read your questions....I think we would all like to know the answers to that.
Ed - How true...and isn't that all He wants...for us to be honest in our talk to Him. You make it sound as easy as it is, yet too many struggle with "divine conversation."
Irene - You are very generous in your compliments...thank you. Hope the travels continue to run smoothly.
Tracy - Thank you so much...please take all the inspiration you can find here.
I love this card. It went straight to my 'Perfect' board, where only the very best get pinned. I enjoyed the other's comments very much. Thank you for sharing it.

ReplyDeleteDear Micki,
ReplyDeleteI think that some of the very best prayers we can say is when we sit and just take the time to talk to God. I do that a lot.
God Bless,
Ed
I quite agree about this wonderful image.

A portrayal of Mary and Jesus I had never seen. So sweet. Wouldn't you just love to know what they were saying.
