IMAGO SACRA MILLE GRATIARUM VALET. ("A holy picture is worth a thousand graces")................... This blog is a means to show some of my holy card collection along with some interesting thoughts and inspirations. "....artists have the privilege in the Church and throughout history, to open up so that people can see the mystery of God. The artist speaks, not just literally, but symbolically. Visual images, if well done, can move us. That's a ministry." Quote from Brother Michael Moran, C.P

Sorrowful Heart of Jesus, Sunday of the Fifth Week of Lent
Friends, I think that the French words on this card mean the following:
A prayer presented by his Holiness (Blessed) Pius IX --- My adorable Jesus, to show my gratitude to you and to make reparation for my unfaithfulness, I give you my heart, I consecrate myself entirely to you, and I resolve, with your grace, to offend you no more.
John PS: Micki, I saw what you wrote yesterday about the fact that the two systems of numbering for the Psalms is confusing. (I agree!) If you'd like me to explain the numbering, please send me an e-mail message.
Micki, yet another card that has just become one of my favourites! (That makes all of them so far, I believe).
But The Sacred Heart...how can we claim to suffer anything too great when we remeber the suffering that brought about this? Thank You. Best Regards, Lynneda

Wonderful card and message - sent it to a friend who is helping another friend cope with marital separation.

ReplyDeleteThis card is so powerful! It touches my heart.
John - I so enjoy being able to print out your translations and place them behind the card in an archival safe plastic sleeve. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteLynneda - You are too funny and yet so helpful in reflections.
Angela - Isn't it great to be able to help others. You do a beautiful service. I'm glad to help.
Jean - "powerful"...such a descriptive word. Thank you.
