St. Joseph's Feast Day is usually March 19th. Because this falls during Lent the date has been changed to today....March 15th.
ST JOSEPH - PROTECTOR OF THE UNIVERSAL CHURCH
O Lord, may the merits of the spouse of your most holy Mother assist us, so that what we cannot obtain through our own efforts we may have through his intercession.

ReplyDeleteFriends,
A few things caught my attention on this card:
-- St. Joseph is depicted as a young man, even looking the way that Jesus usually looks when portrayed in art.
-- There are symbols of the saint's chastity at upper left (white dove) and lower right (lily).
-- Jesus lovingly touches the face of St. Joseph.
Here is a pilgrimage that I heartily recommend: to visit the Oratory of St. Joseph in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Very moving.

How beautiful this card is, Micki: elegant and with wonderful colouring! I do so love St Joseph, his example of "stepping up to the plate" is a lesson for us all. Thank You.

John - I didn't know the "white dove" also symbolized chastity. Good to know. I did bookmark the Oratory...there is much there to go back and read. Thanks for sharing that site.
ReplyDeleteLynneda - You made me laugh with your "stepping up to the plate" quote......that's such a baseball phrase to me. But, I know St. Joseph loved it too.
