But YOU have to raise the sail."

..."Thank You" Micki for all your sharings of inspiration and your lovely holy cards to help us all grow. I've tried several times to send you a private note for a few weeks but it doesn't get through to you and is returned 'Your message was not delivered because the destination computer was

Dear Micki,
At Christmas time I sent you the little magnet with the great quote because, for me, an example of what it means "to raise the sail" is the work that you are doing through your blog: the quotations you find hold such meaning, and the holy cards you post each day are like little paper ships born on the winds of grace that carry God's love into all our lives.
And thank you for the tip of the hat to my new blog, Holy Card Heaven. It would not exist you know, if you had not gone ahead of me to be my inspiration.
Love,
Victoria

Beautiful simplicity! I am going to hoist my sail today and see what happens!

I love any message with a maritime analogy -- and this is one of my favorites. It's a theme I raise with my kids all the time: all the grace in the world means nothing if you don't take the gift and use it yourself. It's about free will and industriousness and the good ole Catholic "Faith with Good Works" ethic. Good stuff. Thanks for this --

I think Raise the Sails means pray for other people, especially those with no one to pray for them, especially the Rosary. Like the analogy about how there would be a good harvest if only there were more harvesters. ... There are so many people unexposed in any way to God's love.

Freda - It is sooooo good to see your name again. I wondered what happened to you. Welcom back.
Is this the email you are using?
holycards@verizon.net (please try again)

Victoria - Wow...your words sure make me happy. Thank you and Congratulations on a wonderful blog. My pleasure to h/t

Mary Lou - Just be careful that the cup of coffee doesn't spill :-)

Lisa - I love your comment...probably because I'm one of those "good ole Catholis" myself.
You are so right. I have a little photo album filled with holy cards that have a boat theme. One of my favorites too.

Gardenia - Loved your respons too. I thought maybe it was because we are going "cruising" again this summer. I'll be on the lookout for that boat with "Him" inside.

Anonymous - Oh, I so agree with that thought. One of my favorite quotes is "Pray for others and God will take care of you." Thanks for that reminder.
