First Monday of Advent......November 30

The candle represents Christ
who came to scatter the darkness of evil
and show us the way of righteousness.

"Be as blind as possible
to the faults of your neighbors,
trying at least
to attribute a good intention to their actions."
Venerable Father Solanus Casey

  1. Thank you dear Micki for the lovely card. The quote came like a present to me today and will be a head banner thought for this Advent. How I want to hold on to Jesus like that little girl holds on to the candle!

  3. When Jesus told us not to judge (Matthew 7:1), He was telling us not to judge hypocritically. Matthew 7:2-5 declares, "For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye." What Jesus was condemning here was hypocritical, self-righteous judgments of others.

  4. A beautiful and sweet card posted for today. The meditation is equally food for thought and to the benefit of our souls. A blessed day to you Micki! Hope it isn't too cold. John K.

  6. Ceci - Yes, I thought her holding on is something we must do more of this Advent.

diddleymaz - Yes, once in a while these cutesy cards are just what we need.

Anonymous - Always a wonderful bible verse. I particularly liked the last sentence.

John K. - Beautiful day here today...praise the Lord. Glad you found "food for thought." Mention "food" and now I'm hungry. Thanks.

Ed Sousa Sr. - Good to hear from you again. Yes, unfortunately most people hear this and think of the other person rather than themselves....now there's further meditation. Hope Fr. Ed is finding some peace furing this busy time of the year for him.

  8. Yes, this is touching - how Little Jesus embraces the anticipation of His own impending birth. Humility and example; as well, His full knowledge of Himself and His fulfillment of scripture. Thank you again, Micki.
