Open the Door to Jesus..........May 7

When Jesus knocks at the door of our heart,
we basically have only four options:

Reject Him.
Ignore Him.
Appease Him.
Obey Him.

“Whoever hears my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father; and I too will love him and show myself to him. “

John 14:21

Usually in the image of Jesus knocking on the door there is no latch or knob on the outside, indicating that we must open to Him; He cannot enter unless we let Him in. In this image, however, there is a knob on the outside, yet Jesus still knocks, for He would never go where He is not invited. However the picture gives us a grave warning. satan can enter by the slightest means, even a keyhole. We must constantly be on guard or before we know it it will enter and wreck havoc with our souls.

Hello dearest Micki and all! :-),

Fr. Scott has a very interesting comment here. I thought I'd include the quote the picture usually comes with, which I am sure you all know. It is Revelation 3:20.

"Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, (then) I will enter his house and dine with him, and he with me..."

Micki and John, come and visit. You might find my post on May procession interesting!

Love to all,
Easter:-)

I enjoyed your post and the video clip (which I wished could have been longer).

Very beautiful picture! I often think about how long Jesus patiently waits for us to open the door to His grace.

Father, you have a very interesting insight into that picture. Indeed, Satan will slip in at the slightest little opening we give him.

What a lovely update on a picture we've all seen so often we no longer see it.

Kay - Always happy when you are pleased.

Diane - Good to see you here again. Hope everything is well on the home front. Are you busy kissing that new baby for me?

Fr. Scott - I love your line about "Jesus still knocks, for He would never go where He is not invited." Hopefully we all invite Him daily. Thanks.

Easter - Oh yes, I want Him to come and "dine" with me. I might have to call up for "take-out" though what with my record for not being a "cook." :-)

Paramedicgirl - Always frightening to picture Satan sneaking in like the crook he is.

Interesting observation, Fool(FriendOfOurLord)! Those longing eyes sure tell us Jesus longs to come in and the one who opens the door longs to have Jesus come...

John, you are funny! Here is Jackie's longer version:
