"And in every disappointment,
great or small,
let your heart fly directly to your dear Savior,
throwing yourself in those arms
for refuge against every pain and sorrow.
Jesus will never leave you
or forsake you.
St. Elizabeth Ann Seton
IMAGO SACRA MILLE GRATIARUM VALET. ("A holy picture is worth a thousand graces")................... This blog is a means to show some of my holy card collection along with some interesting thoughts and inspirations. "....artists have the privilege in the Church and throughout history, to open up so that people can see the mystery of God. The artist speaks, not just literally, but symbolically. Visual images, if well done, can move us. That's a ministry." Quote from Brother Michael Moran, C.P

Micki, I just love this one. I love and love and love depictions of Jesus with children - the tenderness and humility he shows with them. When we were children, we were not allowed to clamber over adults. It was rude and we were expected to treat them with respect. Yet, here's the "biggest adult" of the lot, and children may maul him how they will. Lovely, and thank you for this beautiful reminder of it.
Best Regards, Lynneda
Micki, you picked a great quotation from St. E.A.S., which mentions our hearts and Jesus -- in light of the meaning of the French words on the card:
"Receive Jesus in His Sacrament, so that it may give you His Heart and so that you may give Him yours.
Bl. Mother Barat [now St. Madeleine Sophie Barat]"
John
Lynneda - Thank you for sharing your personal feelings about this card/topic. Doesn't it make you feel like being a child and running to Him?
John - You just make my day...now there is another great quote for inspiration. Maybe I'll use it for another card. Do you think that the "so that it may give" should be "so that He can give"?
Maybe "it" is the sacrament???
This is very beautiful and I love the tenderness shown in this embrace. And surely Jesus loves each one of us just like this in spite of our failings.
Also, I really love the sayings you choose to go along with the images--just so inspiring.
I also really enjoy reading the comments from your regulars, always more to think about.
Thank you!

Yes, Micki. I'm sure that you are correct ("so that He may give you His Heart"). John
